BookMyCar is the first online car servicing and repair platform based in Auckland. New Zealand has some of the best mechanics in the world but it’s really hard to find them, book them or get clear quotes. Finding the time to drop your car off can also be difficult for some, and with BookMyCar it solves the problem for car owners.

THE DISCOVERY

Understanding the discovery process for car owners to find car servicing and repair services

BookMyCar was an idea formulated by the founder of the platform whom had years of experience working with thousands of workshops and customers. The tedious process of customers finding, booking and getting quotes from workshops was relatable to the founder and hence, BookMyCar was designed and built to improve the experience of this process by reducing the effort and time needed for car owners.

THE PROCESS

Interviews with both the founder and car owners led to key insights into the process that most car owners have to go through. Leveraging on the information gathered, the design goal for the Minimal Viable Product (MVP) of BookMyCar was to develop a fixed quoting system using thousands of data points to help car owners obtain a real time fixed price quote specific to their cars’ make, model, year and engine type.

The design process took 5 weeks to complete and it involves working closely with developers in a remote setting to ensure the viability and feasibility of various design features and elements.
